We Are Here to Serve You
History of HSA Columbia
HSA Consulting Group, Inc. was founded in 1991 in Northwest Florida, specifically in FDOT District Three. The firm has also provided professional services to South Alabama, and has provided services for FDOT statewide contracts.
In October of 2022, HSA Consulting Group was acquired by Columbia Engineering Services, Inc. in Duluth, GA, and now goes by HSA Columbia. The service we will continue to provide will be built on HSA’s long-standing history providing services in Transportation Statistics, serving as a prime consultant on Districtwide Traffic Counts, Projections Contracts, consulting services for the District’s Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI), and spearheading the development of an RCI QA/QC program. HSA Columbia is actively involved in Transportation Design, Traffic Operations, Traffic Design, and performing Traffic Operations, Safety, and Planning studies for both public and private entities. Traffic Design services include Traffic Signals, Lighting, Signing and Pavement Markings, and Intelligent Transportation System Analysis and Design for the Department and other entities. The acquisition also provides additional depth and resources.
HSA Columbia has three offices throughout Northwest Florida to provide both a geographic competitive edge and increased efficiencies for data collection, located in Gulf Breeze, Chipley, and Tallahassee. The majority of HSA’s full-time staff are long-time employees and are well known professionals in their respective fields. Throughout our years of performing professional services for various state, local, and private entities, HSA Columbia has developed geospatial software applications for transportation statistics, transportation planning, traffic data collection and roadway design solutions. For vehicle classification and volume counts, our firm uses the latest MetroCount RoadPod VT and Microsized Pico 2500 pneumatic counters. For turning movement counts and traffic volume verification, HSA Columbia developed Video Monitoring Systems in-house which can record continuously for up to seven days uninterrupted. Traffic data captured on our video monitoring systems can be processed using our TMC Count programs including automated vehicle and pedestrian detection software, manual video traffic counting up-to 20x faster, video delay and queue studies, and spy speed studies. HSA Columbia also has a drone (UAS- Unmanned Aerial Systems) registered with the FAA and an FAA certified pilot enabling us to generate orthorectified imagery, digital elevation models, and 3D stereographic imagery. Traffic Operations Studies and intersection analysis are completed using Synchro 11 and SimTraffic, and Highway Lighting photometric analysis is performed using AGi32.
